It's now possible to operate an additional screen on Shadow. This article is here to guide you step by step so you can benefit from a second screen when using Shadow.
This feature is still in the experimental Beta phase, so there is a risk of instability and compatibility. Regular updates will be made available in the coming weeks to improve it.
The second screen works as Windows supports it, however, it is not yet possible to duplicate the screen, only to use the "extend these views" mode.
Currently, this feature requires the use of two separate devices. It is not yet possible to operate two screens on the same device.
So you can enjoy an extended display without having to invest in another screen using that of another device such as a phone or a laptop.
Also note that using an extended screen requires twice as much bandwidth as when using a single device. It is therefore recommended to lower your bandwidth according to your connection if you intend to use this feature.
It is also not possible to use the commands (keyboard / mouse / touchscreens / Micro ...) from the device acting as a second screen.
Finally, it is also necessary that your two devices are connected on the same local network (that is to say the same Internet Box or the same router). It is not yet possible to operate this mode remotely.
To find out which devices make the secondary display function work, the table below is here to guide you:
|Main Screen/ Secondary screen||WINDOWS||MAC OS||SHADOW GHOST||SHADOW BOX||ANDROID||IOS||LINUX|
How to run a second screen on your Shadow with Windows and MAC Applications?
The extended screen option is only available in Beta version on Windows and Mac applications. You can download these apps from this link by logging into your personal area.
For this, you need two devices connected to your Shadow account.
In the case of the Windows or Mac application, an option in the settings allows you to set whether you want to use your device as a secondary screen. Then choose the device you want to use as that secondary screen and select the option in the settings.
Make sure you have connected to Shadow on your first device before activating the second screen on another device.
How to run a second screen on your Shadow with Android and IOS Applications?
The extended screen is not yet functional from the IOS application, for now only the Android application can act as a secondary screen.
In order to use the application as a secondary screen, it is necessary, as with the Windows and MacOS application, that the first device is connected to your Shadow account.
Please note that you will need an Android device running at least version 8.0!
Once your first device is connected to your Shadow account, you can then select the option from the application start page as shown in the image below.
How to make a second screen work on your Shadow with Shadow Box and Shadow Ghost?
For the moment, it is not yet possible to use Shadow Box or Shadow Ghost as a secondary screen. However, you can use them as the primary display and launch another compatible device as a secondary display as shown in the diagram below.
