If games, notifications, and other applications don't seem to produce sound in Shadow, but your local device sound is working, try the following solutions below:
Restart Streaming
Restarting Shadow's video stream is a quick way to troubleshoot missing audio on Shadow. Follow the instructions to restart your stream using Shadow's Quick Menu.
- Start Shadow.
- Open the Shadow Quick Menu.
- Windows: Press Alt+Windows+O
- macOS: Press Option+Command+O
- iOS or Android: Tap the Shadow icon to open the menu
- Click Restart Streaming or Reboot Stream located near the bottom of the menu.
Enable USB Peripherals
USB audio devices such as headphones and external speakers may need to be enabled using the Quick Menu.
- Start Shadow.
- Open the Shadow Quick Menu.
- Windows: Press Alt+Windows+O
- macOS: Press Option+Command+O
- iOS or Android: Tap the Shadow icon to open the menu
- Click the USB Peripherals tab.

💡 Tip: If the box is already checked, try unchecking then rechecking the box.
Enable the Output Device
Disabling then reenabling the output device may help Shadow detect the correct audio device.
- From your Shadow's desktop, right-click the Speaker
icon in the Windows taskbar, then click Open Sound settings.
- Click Manage sound devices.
- Click the NVIDIA High Definition Audio device, then click Disable. Click the disabled device, then click enable.
Disable Other Audio Devices
In some cases, Shadow may detect a different audio device than you intend to use. If you're using Shadow on Windows, enable the correct audio device from your local PC following the instructions below.
- Click the Start menu, type "sound" in the search box, then click Sound settings from the list of results.
- Under Related Settings, select Sound Control Panel.
- In the Playback tab, right-click any device listed here, then click Disable. Repeat this action for all devices.
- Right-click the device you intend to use for audio, then click Enable.
💡 Tip: If the device has disappeared, right-click ensure any device, then check Show Disabled Devices.
