Windows Update is disabled or unavailable

Windows updates are a necessary part of securing your system, and Microsoft may require you to install updates before you can install language packs, Microsoft Store apps, and other features Microsoft has to offer. If Windows Update is disabled or unavailable, you may be prompted to repair Windows Update or enable updates before proceeding (error code "0x80070422").

The Windows update service may be disabled or set to manual updates. To enable automatic Windows updates:

  1. Open Control Panel.

  2. Search for Administrative Tools.

  3. Double-click Services.

  4. In the Services (Local) page, right-click Windows Update.

  5. Click Properties.
  6. If Startup type, is set to Disabled or Manual, choose Automatic.

  7. Click Apply, then restart your Shadow.
