Shadow tried to use sound, but it failed! Speakers, headphones, and other audio devices may produce a static overall poor sound quality if there are issues with your internet connection. Static sounds are often described as popping, cracking, or fizzy.
To improve the quality of your Shadow's sound, complete each section below until Shadow no longer produces poor quality sound.
Restart your stream
Your stream could benefit from a quick restart. To restart your stream, press Ctrl + Win + S. Shadow will close the window momentarily, then start your stream automatically.
Shutting down Shadow restarts its services and can improve your connection.
- Toggle Fullscreen mode off (Ctrl + Win + F).
- In the Shadow window, click Shadow > Shutdown Windows.
- After 10 minutes, start Shadow from the launcher.
Restart your router or modem
Routers and modems and packets, oh my! Restarting your router or modem is commonly recommended for connection issues. Unplug the router or modem for 10 seconds, then plug it back in! Or, contact your Internet Service Provide for assistance.
Install sound drivers
Drivers help improve how Windows and other software interact with your hardware. Consider updating your drivers, if you haven't already, and refer to your device's manufacturer for help locating and installing the latest drivers.
Enable USB over IP
Although Shadow can detect most USB devices, some headphones, microphone, or speakers may need a little help! USB over IP is a neat beta feature available on our Windows and Shadow Box platforms that shares your USB devices over an IP network.
