How to update NVIDIA drivers for Shadow
As Shadow is foremost a computer, it is important to keep it up to date. It is the same for your graphic drivers. This article is here to help you keep them updated.
Before starting this guide, please be aware that your Shadow may have one of two different kinds of graphic cards: the GeForce GTX 1080 or the Quadro P5000. To check which card you have, click the Start menu, then open the Device Manager.
If you see in the Display adapters menu that you have a GTX 1080 card, you can apply the first method (below) to update the driver, using the Geforce Experience Software.
If you have a P5000 card, please follow the manual method.
Geforce Experience Method
The first step is to make sure you have the Nvidia GeForce Experience software.
To do this, go to the Windows Start menu and then type GeForce Experience. If the best result that appears is GeForce Experience, as shown below, you have the GeForce Experience app, so you don't need to install it again.
Otherwise, download and install the app.
Once verified, launch GeForce Experience and log in (create an account if necessary) and go to the Drivers tab at the top left.
Press the button at the top right Check for updates.
If an update is available then the Download button appears:
Once the download is complete, you can install the driver by selecting Express Installation.
When the installation is complete, all you have to do is restart your Shadow.
In case you have a Quadro P5000, you have to manually download GTX 1080 drivers from Nvidia website:
When you have downloaded the driver, you can then install it. Please check that you have no programs running that could disturb the driver installation. If you have any doubt, please close all programs.
WARNING: You can lose your stream during this driver update. Do not restart your Shadow before at least approximately 15 min after the update starting. This could cause a disk corruption and you’ll lose all data on your Shadow. You can try to refresh your Shadow Stream if you meet a freeze of your display.
While the installation launched, do not forget to choose “Express Installation”, as seen below:
When the installation is finished, choose “Restart now” option to finish the update process.
